QUADRUPOLE MASS SPECTROMETER FOR DRILLING EXPLORATION
This is a direct quadrupole mass spectrometer for drilling that provids broad spectrum analysis for gas species having molecular weights between AMU2 and AMU150. Manufactured by Inficon, the Prospector gives an approximate PPM reading for every volatile gas species (whether hydrocarbon or not) between Hydrogen and Decane (C10). Mostly used in the oil & gas industry & drilling for helium, the mass spec can be used to detect many different types of gases that other equipment in the industry can not.
Mass spectrometry in drilling delivers real-time insight into hydrocarbon composition while drilling through unconventional reservoirs. Unlike traditional gas detection tools, our mass spec system continuously monitors mud gas signatures with high sensitivity, allowing geologists and engineers to identify sweet spots, evaluate reservoir quality, and detect fluid transitions as they happen.
At Future Geological, we integrate mass spectrometry directly into the drilling workflow, enabling accurate interpretation of light hydrocarbons, aromatics, and fluid systems. This approach enhances decision-making for geosteering, fracture placement, and production forecasting across tight oil and gas plays.
